The Lazio Region has ordered the transformation of the Columbus Presidium, a facility managed by the Gemelli Foundation, into a Regional Covid Hospital for the care of patients and suspected cases of Covid-19, in dealing with the ongoing health emergency.
At a time like this when Italy and so many countries around the world have been put to the test by the coronavirus, doctors, nurses and all Gemini staff are at the forefront of this health emergency, working with great care and responsibility to respond to the Covid-19 crisis.
The Gemelli Foundation has started the transformation of the Columbus Presidium into a Health Center entirely dedicated to receiving and treating patients with Covid-19 by providing 80 single beds (infectious diseases, pneumology and internal medicine) and 59 intensive care beds.
The cost of a single intensive care unit is approximately €70,000.
The hospital also needs protective equipment such as surgical masks, FFP2 and FFP3 filter masks, Tyvek suits and safety glasses. Usage forecasts are currently high, requiring an expensive and continuous supply.
Last but not least, the Hospital also requires ventilation systems, extremely important for life support. The cost of a single pulmonary ventilator for intensive care is close to €20,000.
This is a complex project that we need to implement urgently, and we can’t do it without your help!
The solidarity of everyone is essential at this tragic moment. Your contribution will help us protect the health of our professionals and to guarantee the best possible conditions to our patients.
