The Master of Science in Sport Business (MSSB) in the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) at Temple University creates leaders to drive the complex sport industry forward. In the MSSB program, students learn new ways to think analytically and critically about situations facing professional sports teams, college athletics and sport business such as sport analytics, sales and promotion and event and venue management. With a dynamic curriculum taught by world-renowned researchers and a vast industry network, the MSSB program transforms students into industry leaders. As one of the most historical master in sport business programs, our robust alumni network is serving across all areas of the industry providing fantastic networking opportunities for our current students. Recent alums have secured positions with the National Football League (NFL), NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletics Departments, and apparel companies such as Under Armour.
The MSSB program is designed individually for each student to meet their career goals with four industry focused concentrations in sport analytics, athletic administration, sales and promotion, and recreation and event management. Headed by a distinguished faculty, the 36-credit program emphasizes the theoretical foundation of sport business with an industry-specific curriculum that equips students with critical insight, strategic business principles and practical application techniques. The program can be completed fully online, on-campus or a hybrid of both and a typical full course load would include nine credits each semester, allowing the majority of students to finish the program in four semesters (two years). The program can be done part-time and at a pace that is suitable to them, allowing students to take on full-time employment, or pursue internships and assistantships during the day.
Additionally, students gain valuable, hands-on and practical experience through our expansive industry network and location in Philadelphia, giving our students and graduates access to top internships and job opportunities within the sport industry at organizations like, the Philadelphia Eagles, U.S. Golf Association, Citizens Bank Park, Comcast Spectacor, Monumental Sports & Entertainment and Numerous College Athletic Departments just to name a few.
Earn a Dual Degree Through a Global Partnership
The MSSB has an exciting partnership with Real Madrid–Universidad Europea Graduate School allowing students to earn two degrees (M.S. in Sport Business / eMBA in Sports Management) in as few as 24 months. Students begin the program at Temple University, take classes online with Real Madrid–Universidad Europea Graduate School and have the option to complete a two-week White Week intensive learning opportunity in Madrid, Spain.
