The administrator in temporary charge of Atletico Madrid appealed for support from fans on Tuesday, insisting the club was in no danger of being wound up. Last week Luis Manuel Rubi was handed control by a high court judge until March 31 after president Jesus Gil and his board were removed from their positions amid an investigation into alleged embezzlement at the Spanish first division club. There had been concerns among Atletico fans that the club could be declared bankrupt or demoted to the third division but Rubi, in his first public comments since taking over, sought to allay those fears on Tuesday. "It's unthinkable that the club should disappear," Rubi told a news conference at the club's Vicente Calderon stadium. "We want the best for this club.
